KATHMANDU: MP Gyanendra Shahi has said that the government is the real meter usury.

MP Shahi said this while speaking in the House of Representatives meeting.

“The government is keeping all the money in the bank and paying interest,” Shahi explained. It is the government that is a true meter bagger. People should not be perplexed by storing money in a bank. 51.46 percent of current expenses, 22.15 percent of capital expenses, and 37.41 percent of administrative expenses have been spent in the last eight months. There is a proclivity to spend all of the money in Ashar (June/July). Nepal’s government has only made 2 trillion 11 billion in fixed deposits. 3 trillion 62 billion rupees are held in government accounts without being distributed to construction workers or others, and are consuming interest. There is a situation in which people must die as they are unable to pay the interest on time.’
