KATHMANDU: The vote on the Federation of Nepal Industry and Commerce (FNCCI) has been halted.

Voting was halted owing to yelling by business backers.

The voting was allegedly disrupted as district/city voters and supporters gathered to yell at the associate’s polling station.

Yellers have been evicted, and security at the Academy Hall voting location has been enhanced.

The vote for the federation’s new working committee, that was slated to begin at 8 a.m. today, began two hours late due to a lack of technical readiness.

One booth has been set up for district/city and objective, and three booths have been made up for associate.

The general meeting began on Tuesday. Senior Vice Chair Chandra Dhakal Vidyanath will be chosen Chair by the General Assembly automatically, while elections for the seats of new Senior Vice Chair and other members will be place today.

Umesh Lal Shrestha, Anjan Shrestha, and Ramchandra Shanghai have already declared their candidacy for Senior Vice Chair. The senior Vice Chair of the Federation chosen in this manner will automatically become the chair for the next term.

The general assembly will elect the federation’s new 64-member working committee. As a result, the district/city will elect three vice presidents, one from each of the commercial, objective, and associate sectors.

14 members from the objective association, 18 members from the trade association, 19 members from the associate working committee and 7 members from the district will be new leaders in the central working committee.
