FNCCI voting resumes

KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Nepal Industry and Commerce’s Executive Committee is being elected in the Nepal Academy Hall in Kamaladi. The voting process, which was paused immediately after polling began at 8 a.m. this morning, has again restarted, according to Electoral Officer Raman Kumar Karna.
‘The voting process was disrupted for a time as non-voters and outsiders yelled. “It’s going on peacefully now,” Karna added, adding that the election, which began at 8 a.m., will last until 4 p.m.
The election is for a new three-year leadership team, including the senior vice-chair. According to the federation’s constitution, the senior vice-chair automatically becomes the chair, and the current senior vice-chair, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, is in charge, while Ram Chandra Sanghai, Anjan Shrestha, and Umeshlal Shrestha are competing for the position of senior vice-chair.
Sangai panel members include Surakrishna Vaidya as district city vice chair, Sukuntlal Hirachan as objective vice president, and Jyotsana Shrestha as associate vice chair.
Manish Lal Pradhan is the candidate for substantive vice president on Anjan Shrestha’s panel, and Arunraj Sumargi is the candidate for district municipal vice president. Dinesh Shrestha is the district municipal vice chair on Umesh Lal Shrestha’s panel, and Hemraj Dhakal is the district municipal vice president candidate. Bharatraj Acharya is a joint candidate for associate vice chair from the Anjan Shrestha panel and the Umeshlal Shrestha panel.
There is one member from each province in the Executive Committee of the Federation. For which, Tanka Prasad Dulal, Narendra Kumar Khadka and Taranath Ghimire have submitted their candidatures as members of Koshi State. Vijay Kumar Sah and Arun Kumar Pradhan have been nominated for Madhesh State member. Besides, Krishna Prasad Awal and Sabin Shrestha have nominated from Bagmati State.
Jeevan Jyoti Shrestha and Yuvraj Raj Bhandari have been nominated from Gandaki State. Jamsher Mian is single from Lumbini State, Laliman Budha, Dhan Bahadur Rawat Chhetri and Kul Bahadur Bishwakarma from Karnali State and Ram Bahadur Bhandari and Jung Bahadur Malla from Sudurpaschim State.
Bhisham Prasad Neupane and Tikaraj Dhakal are candidates for the founding member group. One of them will be elected. 14 candidates will be elected out of 28 nominations for members of the objective association. Similarly, 32 candidates have been nominated as members of the District Municipal Association. In which 18 people will be elected. There are 30 nominations for associate members for 19 members. Sunil KC is a single candidate for the membership of the Binational Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
According to the Federation’s Constitution, the senior vice president candidate must receive more than 50% of the votes cast; if no candidate is elected in the first round, the second round will be held tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
According to the federation, one polling station has been selected for the district town group and the objective union group, and three polling stations have been designated for the associate.
For all posts in the district/city group, red ballot papers have been created, blue ballot papers for all posts in the aim group, and white ballot papers for all posts in the associate group. The ballot papers for the posts of state member and founding group member are yellow.
