Machhindra wins in Olawale’s hat-trick

KATHMANDU: Former champions Machhindra Football Club easily won the Martyr Memorial ‘A’ Division League football.

Machhindra defeated FC Khumaltar 7-3 at Chyasal Ground on Tuesday.

In Machhindra’s triumph, Afeez Olawale scored five goals, including a hat-trick. Bimal Gharti Magar and Vijay Bhujel both scored one goal. Khumaltar’s Messouke Oloumou scored two goals, while Stephane Binong scored one.

Olawale scored in the 25th minute to give Machhindra the lead in the match with the most goals in the ongoing season. Olawale scored his second individual goal in the 29th minute, putting Machindra up 2-0. Bimal scored in the first half’s injury time to give Machhindra a three-goal advantage. Olawale completed his hat trick in the 56th minute, and Machhindra was up 4-0.

Nigerian striker Olawa became the league’s first player to complete a hat-trick. Olawa ended with eight goals to become the league’s leading scorer.

Messouke scored in the 61st minute, putting Khumaltar up 4-1.

Olawale scored the fourth goal in the 62nd minute to put Machhindra up 5-1. Olawale scored his fifth individual goal in the 67th minute, giving Machhindra a 6-1 lead.

Khumaltar was leading 6-2 until Stephen scored in the 76th minute. Messouke scored his second personal goal in the 81st minute of the game, bringing Khumaltar to a 6-3 lead.

Then, in the 87th minute, Vijay scored to give Machhindra a 7-3 victory. This is Machindra’s third win. Machhindra has 12 points in eight games.

Machhindra has risen to sixth place.

Khumaltar has suffered his fifth defeat.
