Customers of NIC Asia to get 10% off on Barfi Sweets in digital payments

Customers and bank employees who use mobile banking, debit card, credit card, or platinum card after opening an account with this bank will receive a discount.

KATHMANDU: NIC Asia Bank, which promotes digital banking with the long-term objective of becoming the “Digital First Bank,” has agreed to provide a 10% discount on the purchase of various sweets from Barfi Sweets, which is part of Kesar Sweets and is located on New Road in Kathmandu.

Mr. Shyam Prasad Lamichhane, Head of Lifestyle Banking Universe for this bank, and Priya Tayal, Co-Founder for Barfi Sweets signed the agreement.

Customers and bank employees who use mobile banking, debit card, credit card, or platinum card after opening an account with this bank will receive a discount when they buy various sweets at Barfi Sweets and pay through digital means, according to an agreement reached in light of the high presence of customer dignitaries in digital transactions.

NIC Asia Bank is one of the largest banks with the most banking networks in the country. This bank has grown its 359 branch offices, 473 ATMs, 108 extended counters, and 81 branchless branch networks around the country. This bank has served around 25% of the country’s economically engaged people aged 20 to 50 years.

Practicing responsible banking to support the liberalization of the country’s economy and high economic growth, since its inception, direct and indirect payments totaling more than Rs. 19.92 billion in revenue to the Government of Nepal, and in the last fiscal year, more than Rs. 3.41 billion in revenue have been paid to the Government of Nepal.

The bank has succeded itself as the bank with the most tax filings among banks. Which is one of the companies with the sixth biggest contribution when compared to all other companies in the country.

For financial inclusion, branches are being expanded and operated in rural districts where banks and financial institutions are few, such as Mugu, Kalikot, Bajhang, Rukum, Jumla, and Salyan, as well as in more than 34 local bodies where no banks or financial institutions exist. The bank has created 72% of its branch offices in rural and minor urban areas, which house more than 80% of the country’s total population.
