House Roof Collapse Kills 7, Injures 1 in Eastern Afghanistan

AFGHANISTAN: At least seven people, including two children, were killed as the roof of their house collapsed on Friday in the eastern province of Afghanistan, Laghman.
According to Qari Khair Mohammad Ghazi, the provincial director for Natural Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs, seven family members perished when their home roof collapsed on Friday in Afghanistan’s eastern Laghman province.
The statement said that the incident occurred at 2:00 am local time Friday in the Alishing district of Laghman province and killed seven family members.
According to the officials, the dead include five children and their parents, but one eight-year-old girl survived in critical condition.
In the past two weeks, a natural disaster hit several provinces of Afghanistan.
On Wednesday, the officials said a flash flood killed one person and injured more than 20 others in the Takhar province of Afghanistan.
In addition, several natural disasters took place across the 30 provinces of the country, which killed more than 21 people and injured more than 100 others. The disasters include earthquakes, floods, heavy rains, avalanches, and landslides.
On the other hand, the heavy rains and flash floods left massive financial damages to the people, including hundreds of livestock perished, more than 2625 residential houses being destroyed, and almost 30,000 acres of agricultural land.
Afghanistan is a mountainous country that is hit mainly by natural disasters amid a dire humanitarian crisis.
