KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has stated that he is running to ensure the future of future generations.

President Lamichhane stated this during a brief press conference following the registration of nominations on Monday.

He stated that his candidacy is also intended to restore political purity and to create jobs in Nepal. Lamichhane stated that he is confident that he will win the election again.

Rabi appears to have a good chance of winning in Chitwan-2, a well-known constituency.

Rabi, who defeated Congress candidate Umesh Shrestha in the Nov 20 elections by nearly 35,000 votes, is now facing a challenge from Jit Narayan Shrestha, the former president of Congress Chiwatan.

Looking at the results of the election held last Nov 20, RSP is ahead with a majority of votes. Rabi secured 49,300 votes in Chitwan-2. His rival Congress candidate Shrestha secured 14,988 votes. UML’s Pokharel got 14,652 votes.

On a proportional basis, the RSP received 35,945 votes, the UML received 16,784 votes, Congress received 12,132 votes, the Maoist received 8,407 votes, and the RPP received 3,218 votes.

There are 616 CPN-S members, 456 Mongol National Organization members, 330 Sushasan Party members, 220 NCP members, 155 JSP members, 126 HNP members, 124 NUP members, and 122 Jana Morcha members.

Looking at the statistics, the ruling party received 21,556 votes, while the RSP received only 3,945 votes. UML received 16,784 votes, RPP received 3,218 votes, and others received 1,132 votes.
