KATHMANDU: Economist who left the Nepali Congress and became a member of the Rastriya Swatantra Party on Thursday.

Swarnim Wagle has stated that he will begin campaigning for the election as soon as he becomes the RSP’s official candidate for Tanahun-1.

Speaking to Makalu Khabar on Friday, he stated that he has the strong support and respect of the people and supporters in Tanahun-1 and that he will begin preparing for the election only after the party declares him the official candidate.

He said, ‘My friends are urging me to get up. The names of two other friends have also come. There is a discussion at the party. I will start preparing after the announcement of the official candidate. The people there are also demanding me. Now the discussion is going on. It will be finished soon.’

Swarnim Wagle’s name was placed at the top of the list of candidates for Tanahun-1 in a statement issued by RSP on Thursday evening. Ishwar Lamichhane and Dr Rupak BK Ghimire have been named as the second and third candidates, respectively.

Wagle met with RSP President Rabi Lamichhane on Thursday afternoon after announcing his resignation from the party. Following the discussion, he applied online, paid 1,000, and joined RSP.

He announced on Thursday afternoon that he had left the Congress party, claiming that the Deuba-Arzu gang had insulted and humiliated him.
