Wagle, an RSP candidate who left NC
On the same day that he left the Congress party, the RSP put his name in the initial list of candidates to contest the elections from Tanahun-1.
KATHMANDU: Economist Dr Swarnim Wagle is going to contest the by-elections from the Rastriya Swatantra Party.
On the same day that he left the Congress party, the RSP put his name in the initial list of candidates to contest the elections from Tanahun-1.
He decided to leave Congress after the Congress failed to field a candidate. He is on track to become the RSP’s second senior vice-president.
Despite the talk of getting a ticket from Congress, Wagle did not receive a ticket in the last House of Representatives elections on Nov 20.
He wanted to run for office in Chitwan or Gorkha at the time.
Following the Congress failed to issue tickets when the candidate was chosen, CPN-UML Chair KP Oli asked him to run as well.
Oli asked Wagle to run in the Kathmandu-7 election.
Oli vowed to assist unconditionally with the request to register as an independent candidate.
