KATHMANDU: Sanjay Agarwal, a businessman, has been elected as the Chair of the Nepal India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) .

The association’s ninth annual general meeting, held in the capital, elected an unopposed 28-member working committee led by Agarwal.

Rajeshkaji Shrestha was elected patron of the association, and Dhurva Kumar Shrestha was elected honorary member, while Navraj Dhakal was elected outgoing president of the working committee and Arniko Rajbhandari was elected senior vice chair.

Niraj Shrestha and Manoj Gyawali were elected as the association’s two vice presidents, as well as Tirtha Bahadur Roka as general secretary, Pawan Agarwal as treasurer, and Romnath Ghimire and Manoj Shrestha Badel as secretaries.

Arun KC, Anna Maria, Basumaya Tamang, Beena Pyakurel Shrestha, Bhuwaneshwar Fainju, Binod Sagatani and Birendra Shahi have been selected as working committee members.

Similarly, Kisan Sunar, Kishore Bhattarai, Samba Lama, Sanjay Agarwal Sarraf, Sarik Bogti, Shambhu Lama, Sumit Dhanuka, Sushil Jain, Subhash Bikram Shah and Yugesh Bade Shrestha have been elected as other members of the association.

The newly elected working committee aims to boost bilateral economic relations between Nepal and Italy by promoting trade, investment, and tourism.

According to the association, efforts will be made to increase Nepalese exports in order to reduce the trade deficit between Nepal and Italy.

Narayankaji Shrestha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, presided over the association’s general meeting last week.
