KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress’ performance committee has finalized the names of two candidates for the April 23 by-elections in three districts.

Prakasharan Mahat, the meeting’s spokesperson, stated that candidates for the three by-election areas had been finalized.

Jit Narayan Shrestha will run in Chitwan-2, while Govind Bhattarai will run in Tanahun-1.

On April 23, by-elections will be held in three constituencies across the country. According to Mahat, the by-elections will be held in 12-2 areas, which will be finalized at the April 2 meeting.

The Congress may also back JSP president Upendra Mahate, who is a member of the ruling coalition. Meanwhile, no candidate has been chosen by Congress in that field.

According to Mahat, the meeting also discussed the expansion of the Council of Ministers. ‘It has been decided to send ministers in consideration of contribution, efficiency, and regional balance,’ he said.

The President will meet with everyone and take suggestions. He’ll make a decision on it.’
