Seto Machhindranath’s chariot ride begins today

KATHMANDU: Seto Machhindranath chariot ride, who is considered to be the god of rain and contemporaneity, is starting today.
It is customary to ride the chariot around the city and give darshan to the valley’s elderly residents.
The Rath Jatra Mul Management Committee says it will be pulled from Jamal’s Tindhara at 5 p.m. today and taken to Bhotahiti after circling the city.

Only women will pull the chariot on the first day. The chariot will be taken to Lagan Tole via Maruhiti and Jaisedeval & Asan tomorrow and on the third day after.
The Rath Yatra is completed on the final day after three circumambulations of Machhindranath’s mother at Lagan Tole.
It is believed that visiting Seto Machindranath will bring you happiness, good health, and a long life.
