KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition, which consists of ten parties, is meeting. After the meeting on Tuesday evening ended without a resolution, it will be repeated today.
The sharing of ministries was discussed at yesterday’s meeting, but no agreement was reached.
The agreement was unable to be reached as the parties refused to give up their respective claims to the lucrative ministry.
Then, in the meeting, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ submitted a draft of the government’s minimum program, which included 19 points.
The draft titled ‘Priority and Common Minimum Program of the United Government’ will be discussed at today’s meeting.
Purna Bahadur Khadka, Deputy Chair, stated that the revised draft distributed for study will be discussed.
He is preparing to submit his blueprint for ministry distribution after reaching agreement on the common program, he says. The meeting has been scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
Which party claims in how many ministries?
In the meeting held on Tuesday evening, the coalition parties claimed the number of ministries on behalf of the party. In the meeting, the main party of the alliance, Congress, claimed nine ministries.
The Janata Samajwadi Party and the United Samajwadi Party have claimed that they should get three ministries each.
The LSP has claimed two ministries. Congress is the largest party in the House of Representatives.
The Congress has 88 MPs, the Maoist Centre has 32, the JSP has 11, the Unified Socialist Party has ten, and the LSP has four.
The meeting on Tuesday was adjourned so that the Prime Minister could call a meeting of the ruling coalition today after hearing the demands of all political parties in the ministries and views on the minimum common program.
