Identitarians & police clash: More than 18 injured, 29 rounds of aerial fire
According to the police, 12 officers were injured on the police side and 6 people were injured on the protesters' side.
BIRATNAGAR: A clash between identity activists and police in Biratnagar over the naming of the state injured more than a dozen people on both sides.
More than a dozen people were injured in a clash between police and protesters as they attempted to disperse the protestors who had surrounded the parliamentarians at the ‘Big Hotel’ in Biratnagar, demanding that the name Koshi State be changed.
The clash began when protestors attempted to breach the police cordon & attack around Biratnagar’s Roadcess Chowk.
The police used tear gas and 29 rounds in the air to disperse the protesters, according to Morang District Police Office.
According to the police, 12 officers were injured on the police side and 6 people were injured on the protesters’ side.
According to the police, three people were seriously injured, while the remaining nine were slightly injured. SP Deepak Pokharel of the Morang District Police Office reported that six protestors are being treated at Paras Hospital.
Two parties clashed at Biratnagar’s Roadcess Chowk on Tuesday afternoon.
A dozen protestors were said to have been injured in the clash.
