Kathmandu-centered protest of meter usury victims continues (photos)
Today morning, 85 victims from 10 districts of Madhesh and Koshi states attempted to demonstrate in Baluwatar, but were stopped by police before Bhatbhateni.
KATHMANDU: The meter usury victims’ Kathmandu-centered demonstration, which began on Sunday after an 11-day walk from Bardibas, will continue today and Tuesday.
The victims attempted to hold a protest program at the open forum on Monday, but due to the obstruction of Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah, they spent the night protesting in front of the open forum’s entrance.
Today morning, 85 victims from 10 districts of Madhesh and Koshi states attempted to demonstrate in Baluwatar, but were stopped by police before Bhatbhateni.
The victims of Bhatbhateni went to New Baneshwor after protesting for a while at Maitighar Mandala via Bhadrakali.
They are holding placards and chanting slogans like “punish the meter-usury,” “give justice to the victim,” and “repeal the Tamsuk system.”
Meter usury victims marched from Bardibas to the federal capital on March 16.
