Issue of meter badge victims in cabinet meeting

KATHMANDU: The government has formed a negotiation committee to discuss with the meter badge victims.
Following the committee’s discussions with the victims, it will be discussed in the cabinet meeting this afternoon for any necessary decisions.
The government is also preparing to introduce legislation in parliament to address the victims’ legal issues. The Council of Ministers meeting today will decide whether or not to present the bill to the House.
To discuss with the victims prior to the meeting, a negotiation team has been formed under the coordination of Rudradevi Sharma, joint secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Deputy Secretary Dilkumar Tamang, Deputy Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Umakant Adhikari, and Deputy Secretary of the Law Ministry Janga Bahadur Dangal are also on the negotiating team.
The negotiation team has been tasked with meeting directly with meter badge victims and discussing the situation with the Prime Minister.
As soon as the victims came to Kathmandu, Prime Minister Prachanda instructed the Home Secretary and Secretariat officials to discuss with the victims and create an atmosphere to solve the problem.
Following discussions with the victims by the negotiation team, Prime Minister Prachanda is scheduled to meet with the victims today for additional discussions.
