KATHMANDU: The victims of the meter bagging arrived at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu today, after walking for 12 days from Bardibas in Mahottari.

On Sunday, 85 victims of meter bagging arrived in Kathmandu via Chandranigahpur, Hetauda, Bhimphedi, and Chandragiri.

They stayed in the temple of Matatirtha and went to Maitighar Mandala after having breakfast.

They number 92 people, including 85 victims of meter-busting and 7 leaders, and they plan to begin a sit-in at Maitighar Mandala today.

They arrived in the federal capital after walking for eleven days and sitting on bamboo in public places such as schools, hospices, and ward offices.

They have stated that they will not return until their demands are met. Prior to this, the then-Sher Bahadur Deuba government formed a task force to investigate meter badge victims’ continuous protests in Jestha & Shrawan.

Their protest was put on hold after an agreement was reached with the government on Ashoj 1 (Sept 17). They began agitating again after the agreement was not implemented.
