22-member US military team in Nepal, joint meeting from today
On Sunday, a 22-member American army team arrived in Kathmandu to take part in three days of bilateral military talks.
KATHMANDU: The Nepali Army and the US Army will hold bilateral talks today.
On Sunday, a 22-member American army team arrived in Kathmandu to take part in three days of bilateral military talks.
According to Assistant Rathi Krishna Prasad Bhandari, Nepali Army Spokesperson, such a discussion has taken place every year since 2018. A meeting was held in Hawaii, USA, last year.
According to the Nepali Army, this time’s discussion will center on peace and security, humanitarian aid, disaster management, and the exchange of subject matter expertise.
According to the army, all preparations for the meeting with the American army have been completed.
A 14-member Nepali Army team, led by the Nepali Army chief, will participate in the discussion, as will joint secretaries and deputy secretaries from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Defense.
Major General Christopher Smith, the deputy commander of the US Army’s Pacific Command, will lead a 22-member team. The Nepalese team will be led by Ashokraj Sigdel.
