KATHMANDU: The appearance has been fixed for the final hearing of the case against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane.

Kathmandu District Court has scheduled the hearing for today for the final hearing of the case against Lamichhane on the charge of extortion.

The Supreme Court had ordered District Court Kathmandu to resolve this case quickly. But even if the hearing is scheduled, it is not certain that the hearing will be held today.

Saroj Krishna Ghimire, Sandeep’s lawyer, says that the hearing will now take place as all the evidences that need to be understood and presented have been presented. ‘Now the hearing has already started and the order will come soon. The Supreme Court has already asked to finish it quickly’, said Ghimire.

Last Bhadra, a girl accused Sandeep of rape. Sandeep was arrested a month later. The district court initially ordered his remand in custody. However, after more than three months in jail, the High Court overturned the district court’s decision and ordered his release on a bond of 20 lakh rupees. The case was then heard by the Supreme Court.

Despite the fact that both parties petitioned the Supreme Court, the Supreme Court reversed the High Court’s decision and ordered that Sandeep’s travel ban be lifted. The final hearing is about to start. The final hearing will determine whether Sandeep will be acquitted or convicted and sentenced to prison.
