Maoist Center exits Lumbini State govt

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist Center has withdrawn its support for the Lumbini state government. Jokh Bahadur Mahara, Indrajit Chaudhary, and Krishna KC, all Maoist ministers in the state government, resigned on Sunday to Chief Minister Leela Giri.

Under the leadership of UML, the Maoist Center and Rastriya Prajatantra Party formed the government in that state.

The Maoist ministers exits the government in order to destabilize the UML-led government and form a government with the parties in the federal power coalition.

There are 29 CPN-UML MPs, 27 Nepali Congress MPs, 10 Maoist Center MPs, 4 Nagarik Unmukti Party and RPP MPs, 3 JSP, LSP, and Janamat Party MPs, 2 Independent MPs, and 1 United Socialist Party and Rastriya Janamorcha MP.

The support of 44 MPs is needed to form a government here.

The federal power coalition’s parties, including Congress, Maoist, and Samajwadi, will now form the government in this country.
