KATHMANDU: The list of martyrs who received martyrdom during the armed struggle and revolution has been published in the Nepal Gazette, as decided by the Government of Nepal’s Cabinet meeting.

On Feb 27, the Council of Ministers meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, decided to publish the list of martyrs from the people’s war to the period of comprehensive peace agreement and recognize them as national martyrs.

After the decision of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Home Affairs sent a letter to all 77 district administration offices and requested the records of the martyrs.

Based on the records obtained from 77 districts, the list of martyrs has been published in the gazette.

The martyrs of the people’s war were repeatedly requested to be recognized as national martyrs, but they were denied.

In addition, citizens who died as a result of the state or the rebel side during the People’s War have been designated as national martyrs.

Families of national martyrs will receive compensation and respect in proportion to the benefits and honor they received from the state prior to their martyrdom.
