POKHARA: The economic growth rate of Gandaki State has been more than 6 percent.

Gandaki’s economic growth rate is currently 6.17 percent, according to the State Policy and Planning Commission.

COVID-19 and subsequent political developments have increased the economy’s previously declining growth rate.

The government had predicted that the economy would grow at a rate of more than 10% in the coming fiscal year. The first five-year plan, however, will not be completed, according to a mid-term review.

Meanwhile, the number of unemployed people in Gandaki has risen. In the province, 60 percent of young people aged 15 to 24 are unemployed. Giridhari Sharma explained.

Gandaki reviewed the status of the Sustainable Development Goals. Sharma discussed the institutional arrangements for monitoring and evaluating sustainable development implementation at the state, district, and local levels.

It has been decided to request that all 85 municipalities in the province coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the situation and submit a report.

According to Sharma, the decision has been made to implement sustainable development indicators such as poverty, hunger, good health and prosperous living standards, gender equality, clean water and sanitation.

Chief Minister Khagraj Adhikari stated that the States’ plans should be implemented in the same way as the issues highlighted by the Sustainable Development Goals.

Plans, he said, should be prioritized based on needs, and implementation should be agile. During the COVID-19 period, the country’s economic growth rate fell below 2%.
