Pilot & co-pilot suspended for flying into clouds
The Authority has suspended the pilot and co-pilot of Summit Air on Tuesday for entering into the clouds during VFR flight.
KATHMANDU: The Civil Aviation Authority has taken action against two pilots flying on the Pokhara-Jomsom route.
The Authority has suspended the pilot and co-pilot of Summit Air on Tuesday for entering into the clouds during VFR flight.
According to authorities, a further investigation has begun by suspending those pilots from flying until further orders are issued. In VFR (flight performed by the pilot facing forward from the cockpit), the visibility is reduced when entering the clouds. The front view is not visible. As a result, the risk of a plane crash increases.
According to the authority, the pilot and co-pilot of Summit Air, who flew on this route a few seconds before the crash of the Tara Air plane that took off from Pokhara to Jomsom on May 29, were taken into action.
Tara and Summit Air are flying on the Pokhara-Jomsom route.
