President Ram Chandra Poudel took oath
The outgoing President, Bidya Devi Bhandari, handed over her chair to the new President, Bhandari, during the ceremony.
KATHMANDU: Ram Chandra Poudel, the newly elected President, has taken the oath of office and secrecy.
On Monday afternoon, Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki took the oath of office during a special ceremony at Rastrapati Bhawan Sheetal Niwas.
The outgoing President, Bidya Devi Bhandari, handed over her chair to the new President, Bhandari, during the ceremony.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ also gave outgoing President Bhandari a gift on behalf of the government.
Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Speaker of the National Assembly Ganesh Timalsina, Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire, and other government officials attended the swearing-in ceremony.
President Poudel will serve a five-year term.
