KATHMANDU: Ram Chandra Poudel, the newly elected President, has abandoned his involvement with political parties.
He has sent a letter to the party’s central office stating that he will not be a part of any Nepali Congress organizational structure. He was a senior member of Congress.
President Poudel will take the oath of office and secrecy from the Chief Justice on Monday at 1 p.m. in a special ceremony.
Poudel will take the oath of office and secrecy administered by Permanent Presiding Judge Hari Krishna Karki.
Poudel, who was elected president on March 9, will serve a five-year term. The current President, Bidya Devi Bhandari, will leave office on March 13.
