Newly elected President Poudel to take office on Monday

KATHMANDU: Ram Chandra Poudel, the newly elected President, will take the oath of office on Monday.
As President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s term ends on Sunday, Poudel will take the oath of office only on Monday.
He will take the oath of office after taking the oath of office. On Thursday, Poudel was overwhelmingly elected as the country’s third president.
Poudel was elected president with the support of the nine-party alliance, defeating UML candidate Subas Chandra Nemwang by 18,284 votes.
Poudel received 33,802 votes, while Nemwang received 15,518 votes, according to the Office of the President and Vice President Election Officer.
There were 313 votes cast for the union and 831 votes cast for the state assembly out of a total of 882 votes cast. The union has 79 votes, while the state has 48 votes.
Poudel received 214 votes for the union, or 16,896 votes, and 352 votes for the province, for a total of 33,802 votes.
This represents 64.22 percent of the total vote count of 52,628. A majority of the existing votes, i.e. 26,315 votes, were required to be elected president.
