Sporting CP’s own goal saved Arsenal from defeat

KATHMANDU: Arsenal was held to a draw in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 match.

Arsenal and Sporting CP played to a 2-2 draw on Thursday night. William Saliba scored in the 22nd minute to give Arsenal the lead.

Goncalo Inacio scored in the 34th minute of the game to tie the game at 1-1.

Sporting CP took a 2-1 lead when Paulinho scored in the 55th minute.

However, Arsenal was saved from defeat when Sporting CP’s Hidemasa Morita scored an own goal in the 62nd minute.

The second leg between the two teams will now take place on March 17. The game will take place at Arsenal’s stadium.
