Pit accident kills 3 miners in Spain
The accident happened around 900 meters under ground at the Suria potash mine. The causes are so far unknown.

MADRID: Three people lost their lives in a potash mine accident close to Barcelona, northeast Spain, on Thursday morning.
Confirming the deaths, the Catalan fire brigade informed that they had been reported of the accident at 08:53 local time (0753 GMT) and arrived the mine with nine rescue vehicles and a medicalized helicopter.
The accident happened around 900 meters under ground at the Suria potash mine. The causes are so far unknown.
The three victims working for the company ICL Iberia were apparently in a gallery when the roof fell and buried them. Work is underway to recover the bodies, according to the authorities.
The leader of the Catalan region Pere Aragones sent a message expressing his support for the families of the affected miners and their companions at the mine. He described the incident as a “tragic accident” while speaking at the Catalan regional parliament.
A similar accident claimed two lives in the same mine in 2013.
