KATHMANDU: Ram Chandra Poudel has been elected President of Nepal.

Poudel, a senior leader of the Nepali Congress, was elected President after receiving votes from MPs from ten parties, including the Congress.

Following the victory, the MPs and top party leaders who voted for Poudel appeared to be in a good mood.

Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Chair of the Maoist Centre and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chair of the Integrated Socialists Party, and other leaders congratulated Poudel on his victory.

The scenes of the leader congratulating and wishing Paudel by hugging him showing intimacy were unprecedented and interesting.
