Presidential Election: More than 600 casts vote

KATHMANDU: More than 603 people have voted in the presidential election till 12:30 noon.

According to the Presidential and Vice Presidential Election Office, 267 Federal Parliament members and 336 State Assembly members voted until 12:35 p.m.

In that chamber, two separate polling stations have been built for members of the Federal Parliament and the State Assembly.

The polling station was built by a team of polling officers, according to Electoral Officer Mahesh Sharma Poudel. Voting began at 10 a.m. and will continue until 3 p.m.

There are 332 federal parliamentarians and 550 state assembly members up for election. Men and women will vote in separate lines. In order to organize the election, arrangements have been made for a location with various tents for voters and media workers to rest.

In the election, one vote for a federal parliamentarian is worth 79 votes, while one vote for a state assembly member is worth 48 votes.

Keshav Paudel, Sub-Registrar of the High Court Patan, and Loknath Parajuli, Sub-Registrar of the Supreme Court, have been assigned to polling stations for members of the State Assembly.

Senior leader of Nepali Congress Ram Chandra Poudel and Vice Chair Subas Chandra Nemwang are candidates from CPN UML as joint candidates from the nine party alliance in the presidential election.

For the overall election, Ramesh Lekhak on behalf of Poudel and Mahesh Bartaula on behalf of Nemwang are as representatives.

Amrita Kumari Sharma, Assistant Election Officer, stated that plans have been made to begin the vote counting process after voting concludes at 3:00 PM and to announce the results by 7:00 PM.
