KATHMANDU: Nepal has set a target of 298 runs against Papua New Guinea in the ongoing match under ICC World Cup Cricket League 2 on Thursday.

Nepal’s opener Aasif Sheikh’s century set a new target of 298 runs for Papua New Guinea.

Nepal scored 297 runs in 49.1 overs after losing the toss and batting first. Nepal has scored the highest total in ODI history. Nepal had previously scored 287 runs in ODIs.

Aasif Sheikh scored a magnificent century of 110 runs in 110 balls with 12 fours and two sixes in today’s match. This is Asif’s first century in international cricket. Aasif reached his century in 101 balls, hitting 10 fours and two sixes.

In addition, Aasif has scored 1000 runs in his ODI career. After Rohit, he became the second player in ODI history to reach 1000 runs.

Asif was caught out in the fourth ball of the 38th over in today’s match.

Kushal Bhurtel scored 45 runs off 56 balls, including six fours. For the first wicket, Asif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel shared a century partnership of 110 runs in 18.4 overs.

Gyanendra Malla contributed 11 runs.

Rohit Paudel and Asif Shaikh had a 67-run partnership. Dipendra Singh Airee and Sandeep Lamichhane each scored seven runs. Aarif Sheikh contributed 15 runs. Bhim Saraki was out for 44 off 38 balls with four fours.

Bhim Sarki was out on the first ball of the final over.

Riley Hekure took three wickets for 50 runs in 10 overs for Papua New Guinea. Semo Kamea took 5 wickets for 38 runs in 9.1 overs.
