Holi festival being celebrated in Terai today

KATHMANDU: The Holi festival is being observed in Terai districts today. Mutual harmony and happiness is shared with Holi greetings.

Friends and relatives gather to play Holi, the festival of colors, because it is also considered a festival of friendship, intimacy, closeness, and harmony.

The festival revelers smear colours on each others’ face in a jovial manner. The Holi festival was observed in the hilly districts yesterday.

Observed with the onset of Spring Season, Holi festival is regarded as the symbol of victory of good over evil.

On the day after Holi is celebrated in hilly and Himalayan districts, the Terai celebrates Holi. The Phagu festival, which marks the beginning of spring, is celebrated by putting colors on each other and gathering together to express happiness.

The colors used in Holi each have their own meaning. The color blue is associated with crusades. Lord Vishnu and Shri Krishna both prefer the color yellow. Lord Ganesha enjoys all colors, but red is thought to represent strength and good fortune.
