Traffic checking beefed up in Valley during Holi festival
The traffic police have increased their presence in the valley today, as the youth may be driving while intoxicated and breaking traffic rules during the Holi festival.

KATHMANDU: Keeping in view the Holi festival, the traffic control in Kathmandu Valley has been tightened today.

According to the police, 68 ‘check points’ have been set up throughout Kathmandu. Similarly, mobile vans are said to patrol in 19 different locations on a regular basis.
The Valley Traffic Police Office has stated that ‘check points’ have been set up at various locations, including all valley crossings, with the goal of making the Holi festival accident-free, safe, and dignified.
According to Abhinarayan Kafle, Superintendent of Police of the Valley Traffic Police Office, action was taken against those driving at high speeds due to intoxication and violations of traffic rules.
He stated that showing indecent behavour in the name of festival celebrations, smearing colour on anyone against will and throwing of water-filled balloons and other violations of traffic rules are not allowed during the festival.
According to Superintendent of Police Kafle, the Valley Traffic Police have been more proactive in making the Holi festival dignified and safe.
