KATHMANDU: Holi, the festival of color, is being celebrated with a huge fanfare in the hilly region of the country on Monday (today) and Tuesday (tomorrow) in Terai districts.

The Phagu Purnima celebration begins with a Holika dahan, or the lighting of a bonfire to commemorate Holika’s death on the eve of Holi, the symbol of good triumphing over evil. The next day, people enjoy smearing each other with various colors, such as abir or red vermilion powder.
