Nepal’s PM Dahal graced the 7th International Ayurveda Congress in Kathmandu
Leaders and experts in the field of Ayurveda held discussions and debates on topics such as Ideal Health, Chronic Disorder Prevention, and Natural Approaches to Age Reversal.
KATHMANDU: Over 350 delegates from 14 countries attended the Seventh International Ayurveda Congress, including scholars, researchers, physicians, academicians, and policymakers in Ayurveda.
Three days of seminars and presentations on the medical, herbal, pharmaceutical, engineering, science, and application of Ayurveda were held.
Leaders and experts in the field of Ayurveda held discussions and debates on topics such as Ideal Health, Chronic Disorder Prevention, and Natural Approaches to Age Reversal.
‘The Government of Nepal is willing to support Ayurveda for the research of indigenous medicinal plants, as well as to develop Nepal’s Ayurveda Pharmacopoeia and formulary,’ said the Prime Minister.
The government will work to develop policies for each state’s collection, processing, and production units.
The government will assist Nepalese Ayurveda companies in promoting the quality of Ayurvedic medicines in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Standards.
He further assured, ‘The Government will promote Ayurveda Hospitals, Panchakarma and Wellness Centres for the promotion of Medical tourism in Nepal.’
In describing India-Nepal cooperation, the Prime Minister stated, ‘The Government of India and the Ministry of Aayush, India, have given high priority to the research and development of Ayurveda and the herbal industry in India.
The Nepalese government will collaborate with the Indian government to promote Ayurveda as an evidence-based medicine in Nepal.’
Nepal is home to the Himalayas as well as a plethora of ancient Vedic traditions and wonders. Nepal has a long history of Ayurveda, which is still recognized as an important part of their culture and routine today. Rare Ayurvedic medicines and herbs can also be found growing naturally in the Himalayan valleys.
Dr. Tony Nader, Congress Patron, presented ancient Vedic technologies for resolving international conflicts and tensions to the Prime Minister and assembly delegates via live video conference.
The conference program was enhanced by beautiful Nepalese cultural music and dance, which brought joy to the hearts of the delegates. Many people took advantage of opportunities to visit the Pashupatinath temple and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
The International Maharishi Ayurveda Foundation, The Netherlands; the All India Ayurvedic Congress, New Delhi; the International Academy of Ayurved, Pune, India; and the Nepal Maharishi Vedic Foundation as the local host, led by honorable Deepak Prakash Baskota, former State Home Minister and executive chair of the National Cooperative Federation of Nepal; and the Ayurveda Doctors Association of Nepal (ADAN) collaborated on this congress.
During the conference, two major international university collaborations were formed.
Maharishi International University in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, has signed an agreement with Kathmandu University’s Himalayan Centre for Asian Studies. In the presence of the Prime Minister, the Honourable Pushpa Kamal Dahal, John Hagelin, President of Maharishi International University, and KU Vice Chancellor Bhola Thapa signed the broad agreement.
The Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Ayurved and Research Centre in Pimpri, Pune, India, has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Maharishi International University, which is intended to foster significant new joint Ayurvedic research by these two leading global Ayurvedic academic institutions.
In concluding the Resolution of the successful Ayurveda Congress, special emphasis will be laid on exchanging ideas on how to increase the acceptance and application of Ayurvedic methods all over the globe.
The goal is to formulate a Roadmap for Holistic Health for All through Ayurveda as following:
- Establishing highest quality education and training in Ayurveda for medical practitioners as well as for the public in each country.
- Guiding the practice of various preventative approaches in Ayurveda and thereby detecting and correcting physiological imbalances in their early stages.
- Promote scientific research on Ayurveda to showcase preventive and curative benefits in healthcare and encourage its global recognition.
- Ensuring global availability of authentic Ayurveda products by overcoming regulatory hurdles and implementing procedures to guarantee safety and purity.
- Expansion of Public health campaigns of Ayurveda and Yoga for the promotion of health of an individual in a theme of “Ayurveda for all”.
- Promotion and Propagation of Ayurveda Education with the establishment of Ayurveda Academy and operationalization of the Yogamaya University for new courses in Ayurveda Education in Nepal.
- Conceptualization of the Ministry of Ayurveda and Alternative Medicine in Nepal and Global Center for Ayurveda Research.
