KATHMANDU: Papua New Guinea has won today’s match in the World Cup Cricket League-2 series between Nepal, the UAE, and Papua New Guinea in the United Arab Emirates.

PNG defeated UAE by five wickets in their last match of the series. UAE fell to Papua New Guinea at home for the second time in a row. Papua New Guinea ruled the field after winning the toss.

In the scheduled 50-over match, UAE lost all of their wickets in 26.2 overs and scored only 97 runs. Similarly, Papua New Guinea won by 98 runs after losing five wickets in 26.5 overs.

For Papua New Guinea, opening batsman Tony Ura scored 35 not out, Sese Bau scored 18 runs and Hiri Hiri scored 14 runs. On the bowling side, Rohan Mustafa of UAE took two wickets.

Earlier in the innings, UAE’s Bhritya Arvind scored 26 runs, Muhammad Wasim scored 19, Aasif Khan scored 11, and CP Rizwan scored 10. Papua New Guinea’s Riley Hekure took five wickets, Chad Soper three, and Charles Amini one.

UAE has 31 points from 31 matches played thus far. UAE is still in fifth place in the league. Nepal is ranked sixth in the league. Nepal has 30 points from 31 games played.

Papua New Guinea has nine points after 32 games. Papua New Guinea is last in the standings. On Monday, Nepal will face the United Arab Emirates in the series finale.
