KATHMANDU: The national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (Nepal Airlines) will begin direct flights to South Korea.
The corporation’s spokesperson, Archana Khadka, stated that the process of flying to Incheon International Airport in Seoul, South Korea’s capital, has advanced.
A 10-member safety audit sub-committee has been formed for this purpose, with the coordination of the Corporation’s Deputy General Manager (Technical) Engineer Bikram KC.
The committee includes representatives from the corporation’s safety, engineering, and other departments. In South Korea, a committee has been formed to conduct a safety audit for direct flight operations.
“For the flight, the Civil Aviation Authority under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MOLIT) of South Korea must be audited; a committee has been formed on behalf of the corporation and is about to begin work,” said Khadka, the corporation’s spokesperson.
In order to expand international flight destinations, the corporation has begun planning for direct flights to South Korea.
The corporation believes that with the presence of the national flag carrier and the start of direct flights, the market will be controlled and air ticket prices will fall, as will the national flag carrier’s obligations.
Currently, the corporation operates international flights to three destinations in India and ten destinations in eight countries. The company owns two narrow-body A-320s and two wide-body A-330s.
