KATHMANDU: The police have made a preliminary determination that the late Saroj Kumar Upadhyay jumped from the restaurant’s roof.

According to SSP Dan Bahadur Karki, head of Kathmandu’s district police complex, Upadhyay stepped on the table. “It appears that he stepped on the restaurant table where there is a railing about five feet high,” he explained. ‘The preliminary investigation will reveal whether this is a suicide attempt or an accident. More will be discovered as a result of additional research.’
He had been going to the same restaurant for three days, according to the police.
Upadhyay, an engineer by trade, was recently active in CPN Unified Socialists politics. After Upadhyay was injured, two young men took him to the Civil Hospital. He was transferred to Annapurna Neuro Hospital in Maitighar for further treatment, but he died there.
