DPM Shrestha to travel to Qatar for LDC conference

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Narayan Kaji Shrestha will leave for Doha, Qatar on Friday to participate in the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) Conference.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha will lead the Nepalese delegation to the conference held from March 5 to 9.

Nepal is scheduled to assume the presidency of LDCs this year. Earlier, Malvi had assumed the chair.

The delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha, consists of Vice Chair of the National Planning Commission Dr. Meen Bahadur Shrestha, Member of Parliament Jitendra Narayan Dev, Secretary to the Government of Nepal, and Nepali Ambassador to Qatar.

During his visit, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha will attend the LDC conference’s plenary session. Similarly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that there is a program of bilateral discussions with representatives of various countries.

Minister Shrestha also has plans to meet and discuss with Nepalis in Doha. Shrestha, the Deputy Prime Minister, is scheduled to return home on March 7.
