ICC League Two: UAE set a target of 208 runs for Nepal

KATHMANDU: UAE has given Nepal a target of 208 runs in the ongoing ICC World Cup League 2 cricket match in Dubai on Thursday.

After losing the wicket in the ongoing match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, UAE won the toss and scored 207 runs in 50 overs.

UAE opener Aasif Khan scored 72 runs off 99 balls. He hit five fours and three sixes.

Aryan Lakra scored 28 runs while Rohan Mustafa hit an unbeaten half-century of 52 runs off 76 balls. Captain CP Rizwan was out for 22 runs, and Vriitya Aravind was out for 18. Muhammad Wasim was out for zero runs in the first over.

For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane took 3 wickets for 27 runs in 10 overs. Karan KC, Kushal Malla and Aarif Sheikh took 1/1 wicket each.

So far, the UAE has scored only 25 runs in 10 overs for the loss of one wicket. UAE opener Muhammad Wasim was out for a duck.

Karan KC dismissed Muhammad Wasim in the first over for Nepal.

This is the second match of the series for both teams. Nepal defeated Papua New Guinea in the first match.

Papua New Guinea defeated the UAE.

Even though the UAE appears to be stronger than Nepal, Nepal is currently winning. On the other hand, the UAE is in a slump.

Nepal, which is undefeated in five ODIs in a row, wants to continue its winning streak.

The series, which was supposed to take place in PNG, was moved to the UAE due to weather conditions.

This is Nepal’s final triangular series in the World Cup League Two series, which has been running since 2019.

Nepal will now have 42 points if they win all seven of their remaining League 2 matches. The top three positions will be confirmed if Nepal wins all of its matches. Nepal can only reach 39 points if it wins all of its matches and UAE wins the remaining six.

Now there is a competition between Nepal, UAE and Namibia to play the World Cup qualifiers. One of these three countries will qualify directly. The bottom four teams will have to play the playoff qualifiers in Namibia in March (April).

The bottom four teams of League Two will be Canada and Jersey in the playoff qualifiers. From which the top two teams will get to play the ICC ODI World Cup Qualifiers.

Nepal is on 28 points with 13 wins and 14 losses in 29 matches. Nepal is at the sixth position in the points table.

UAE is in fifth place with 29 points from 29 matches with 13 wins and 13 losses.
