Proposal to name State 1 ‘Koshi’ passed, following discussion State to get name

BIRATNAGAR: The State Assembly has approved the proposal to name State 1 as Koshi State.

The proposal, put forward by UML state assembly member Ram Rana Magar, was approved by voice vote.

The name will now be debated in the State Assembly.

Following the approval of the proposal to rename State 1 as Koshi State by voice vote, the proposal on Kirant Limbuwan Sagarmatha put forward by Rajendra Rai, the leader of the CPN-S parliamentary party, was rejected by the State Assembly.

When the vote was divided to discuss the proposal, the majority of MPs approved it in the name of Koshi. This proposal has received support from Congress.

Following the discussion, voting will take place today, and State 1 will be given the name.
