Code of conduct implemented from today
The Commission had decided to issue the Election Code of Conduct, 2079, which will be valid from March 1 to March 19 on Tuesday.

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has implemented the code of conduct for the election of the President and Vice President from today.
The Commission had decided to issue the Election Code of Conduct, 2079, which will be valid from March 1 to March 19 on Tuesday.
According to the Commission’s decision dated Jan 30, the elections for the post of President and Vice President will be held on March 9 and next on March 17.
After the election officer’s office was established for the presidential election, the nomination papers for candidacy have already been registered on Feb 25, and the commission has published the final list of candidates on Tuesday.
According to the Commission, both CPN-UML leader Subas Nemwang and Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel have been nominated for the presidential election.
According to the election officer’s office, although the time for withdrawing the nominations was set until 4 o’clock on Tuesday, the candidatures of both the leaders were upheld after they did not withdraw.
According to the press release issued on Tuesday by Shaligram Sharma Paudel, spokesperson of the commission, the commission has issued a code of conduct using the authority given by section 22 of the Election Commission Act, 2073 for the presidential election. The said code of conduct has already been published in the Nepal Gazette Volume-72, Number 32 dated Aug 29.
The same code of conduct was also applied for the election of members of the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assembly held on Nov 20.
According to the decision of the commission, the said code of conduct applies to the government of Nepal and ministers of the government of Nepal, provincial government and ministers of the state government, union, state and local level employees, security agencies, security personnel and employees and government, semi-government and public organizations and their employees, political parties and political parties’ sister organizations, will apply to candidates and candidates’ representatives, political parties and candidates’ voting and counting representatives, public office holders, media establishments, their employees and media workers and voters.
