Dr. Sanduk Ruit receives an award of more than 130 million

He received the award from the ISA Award for Service to Humanity organization for his role in curing blindness through eye treatment.

KATHMANDU: Dr. Sanduk Ruit, Executive Director of Tilganga Eye Foundation and Senior Ophthalmologist, has been honored with ‘ISA Award’.

Sunita KC, the foundation’s public relations officer, stated that the award was presented to him by Bahrain’s King, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, at an event held on Tuesday in Bahrain.

According to her, King Al Khalifa of Bahrain presented Dr. Ruit with an award of $10 lakh (13 crore Nepalese rupees).

He received the award from the ISA Award for Service to Humanity organization for his role in curing blindness through eye treatment.

The organization announced Dr. Ruit as the recipient of the ISA Award last Magh (Jan/Feb). One hundred and forty-five individuals and organizations registered to be nominated for the award. He was chosen from among the final six individuals and organizations.

The ‘Isa Award for Service to Humanity’ organization was founded in 2009 by King of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in memory of former King Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Dr. Ruit devised a straightforward method for treating cataracts. In the institute, he has been producing international level ‘intraocular lenses’ for the removal of blindness.
