Govinda Gurung appointed as CEO of ADB
Gurung was chosen after the Board of Directors meeting shortlisted 5 of 22 applicants.
KATHMANDU: Govinda Gurung has been appointed as the Agricultural Development Bank’s new CEO. Gurung was appointed by the bank’s board of directors on Saturday for the next four years.

Pratap Subedi, acting CEO of Agricultural Development Bank, Yagya Prakash Neupane, DGM of the bank, Badri Prasad Guragain, CEO of National Cooperative Bank, and Bishnudev Yadav, DCEO of Nepal SBI Bank were all on the shortlist.
There were 22 applicants for the position of CEO. On Saturday, the shortlisted candidates were interviewed.
Anil Upadhyaya, the former CEO of Agricultural Development Bank, had invited applications for the position of CEO, which had become vacant after his tenure ended one month ago.
Gurung previously worked as the CEO of Civil Bank and Myanmar Citizens Bank in Myanmar. He has 26 and a half years of experience working in commercial banks. As soon as Gurung’s application was received, it was predicted that Gurung would win the CEO of Agricultural Development Bank’s bet.
Gurung, who was born in Marsyangdi-8 Bhangeri of Lamjung, has a first-class MBA from Nepal Commerce Campus.
Gurung has done his MBA from Tribhuvan University.
He has nearly 27 years of experience working in 6 different banks, both Nepali and foreign. Gurung, who joined Civil Bank in October 2012 as Deputy CEO, was named Acting CEO in May 2017.
Gurung began his banking career as a management trainee at Himalayan Bank and worked there for 10 years and 5 months.
He moved from Himalayan to Global IME Bank after becoming a manager and stayed for 3 years and 5 months.
He began as a manager in that bank and worked his way up to the position of chief business banking officer.
The board of directors appointed him CEO a few months later.
Gurung, who began his banking career around 27 years ago, has worked for Himalayan, Global, and Mega Banks.
