There can be no cooperation in making a former king president: General Secretary Gurung
He believes that the presidency should be given to someone who can achieve national consensus.

POKHARA: Dev Gurung, General Secretary of the CPN Maoist Centre, has stated that they are looking for a suitable character for the future president.
He believes that the presidency should be given to someone who can achieve national consensus.
Gurung claimed that the Maoists would not run for president, but the Congress and UML have suggested that they nominate a candidate who is acceptable to everyone.
“The spirit and essence of the constitution must be understood. That did not happen in the past,’ he said, ‘Yesterday there was an attempt to limit it in terms of special parties.
Sometimes the government’s recommendation was devalued, and sometimes the parliament’s recommendation was devalued. Now we must apply that lesson and make a decision.’
He stated that the character’s search was not yet complete. ‘Right now, there is a complicated and crisis situation. There are power centers at work. ‘In this situation, there is no option but to reach a consensus,’ says Gurung, adding that a position such as president should be established jointly. If this does not happen, the country’s stability may face a serious crisis.’
He suggested that regardless of who the president’s nominee is, he should be the defender of the constitution and embrace the country’s changes. The UML and Congress are preparing to nominate presidential candidates.
In a press conference organized by the press center in Pokhara, he said that as before, the president should not be brought in from outside politics. On the question of what will happen if the former king is made the president, Gurung says, ‘Nepal will not be protected by nationalism. It is not enough to raise the issue of nationality only literally. There is no assimilation of ideas by the statement given by the former king. In this situation, we cannot cooperate with him.’
