KATHMANDU: Chandra Kant Bhandari, Congress leader and member of the House of Representatives, has seen significant improvement in his health. Bhandari, who was injured in a fire, has made significant progress.

He is receiving treatment in Mumbai, India, and will be able to regrow skin on the burned areas of his face and hands.

Congress leader Yograj Kandel, who was in the hospital, said doctors told him there was no need for another surgery right away. Bhandari, he claims, has come to his senses.

At present, Neta Bhandari has been reducing the amount of artificial oxygen. Madhav Neupane, who assisted him, said that preparations are being made to remove the ventilator tomorrow. ‘Counseling from the doctor has been completed. The amount of artificial oxygen has been reduced. And from tomorrow the ventilator will be removed in the trial,’ he further said, ‘the burnt part of the hand has started working. He is in the first dressing after the operation. The swollen part is decreasing. The condition is becoming normal.’

MP Bhandari was taken to Mumbai on Thursday afternoon by a chartered flight of Shree Airlines.

Bhandari and his mother were injured when a gas cylinder exploded at their home in Buddhanagar, Kathmandu, at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday. They were taken to Kirtipur Hospital on Wednesday night.

Harikala Bhandari, MP Bhandari’s 86-year-old mother, died on Thursday morning while receiving treatment at Kirtipur Hospital.
