KATHMANDU: The 73rd Democracy Day was celebrated by organizing a special ceremony in Tundikhel.

Every year on this day, Democracy Day is observed to commemorate the historic day that ended the 104-year rule of Jahanian Rana.

The program in Tundikhel was attended by President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Permanent Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, ministers, high-ranking employees, and others.

The Nepali Army rained flowers from a helicopter carrying the National Democracy Day, 2079 banner, while pigeons and colorful balloons flew from the ground to add to the festive atmosphere.

Since 2008, the Democracy Day Main Function Committee has been organizing special functions at Sainik Manch.

March passes, national anthem tunes, and bands were presented by the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Forces.
