KATHMANDU: Thousands of sages/hermits continue to flock to Pashupati Area for Maha Shivaratri, which falls on Saturday.
During this year’s Maha Shivaratri, it is expected that at least 5000 sages/hermits will visit Pashupatinath temple.
More sages/hermits are arriving, particularly from India.
Sages/hermits who have come to Pashupati are now concentrated in Kailas, Shleshmantak Forest, and the Ram Mandir area.
Arrangements have also been made to provide firewood for sages/hermits.
The Pashupati Area Development Fund has estimated that 2 million pilgrims will visit the Pashupatinath temple and 3 million devotees will visit the Pashupati area on this year’s Maha Shivaratri.
According to the fund, eight sub-committees have been formed for the convenience of the devotees.
For the preparation of Shivaratri, a core ceremony committee has been formed under the coordination of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Sudan Kirati.
