The outgoing general secretary, Badal, was elected chairperson of the 23rd National Convention last night.
KATHMANDU: Samik Badal has elected as the chairmanship of All Nepal National Independent Student Union (ANNFSU), a student organization affiliated to CPN-UML.
The outgoing general secretary, Badal, was elected chairperson of the 23rd National Convention last night.
Badal was elected with 962 votes, while RC Lamichhane ssecured 356 votes. Moti BK, another candidate for the chairmanship, received 78 votes.
Following the failed attempt to elect the leadership through consensus, voting was conducted last night using electronic machines. 1517 votes were cast in the election.
Naresh Rokaya has won with 733 votes as General Secretary. While Govinda Giri, Dharma Giri, Narayan Gharti and Maryada Bista elected as vice chair and Sangam Aryal as treasurer, Sanjeev Dhital, Sujan Kadaria, Prakash Poudel, Dipesh Prasai, Anjana Siwakoti, Aarti Bhattarai and Binita Kafle as secretary.
The official announcement of the new leadership is yet to be made.
According to chairman Khimlal Bhattarai, the leadership of 199 central members and three commissions will also be announced today.
