KATHMANDU: The 28th edition of the Comprehensive Information and Communication Technology Exhibition ‘CAN Info-Tech 2023’ organized by the Computer Association Nepal Federation (CAN Federation) has been completed.

More than 3 mIn people visited this exhibition at Bhrikuti Mandap in the capital from Feb 7 to 12.

Communication and Information Technology Minister Rekha Sharma inaugurated ‘InfoDevelopers CAN Info-Tech 2023 in association with DishHome FiberNet’ in a special ceremony last Tuesday.

On that occasion, representatives of the private sector and various organizations were present along with special officials of the Government of Nepal.

Special officials from the Nepalese government and its subordinate bodies, local people’s representatives, members of the State Assembly, the National Assembly, and the House of Representatives, leaders of various political parties, officials of the Planning Commission, policymakers, national and international businessmen, artists, social workers, students, and information technology enthusiasts attended the six-day exhibition.

On the final day of CAN Info-Tech, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Deputy Chief Sunita Dangol, former minister Mahesh Basnet, MP Damodar Paudel, and other special guests were present. According to Ranjit Podar, president of the CAN Federation, this edition of CAN Infotech was a huge success, with a lot of positive feedback. He also thanked the exhibition’s sponsors, exhibitors, supporting organizations, and media and information technology enthusiasts.

The top sponsor of CAN Infotech 2023 was software company InfoDevelopers Pvt Ltd, while the associate sponsor was Internet service provider DishHome FiberNet. Similarly, Diamond Sponsor is Nepal Telecom, Gold Sponsor is Maya Animation Academy, Huawei Technology (In Nepal, For Nepal) and Silver Sponsor is S Power, On Sikka, Digicom.

In the branding room at the exhibition venue, various companies and brands from the country and abroad were present.

Fintech, internet service providers, telecom service providers, hardware sales and maintenance, power solutions, and so on were among them.

Similarly, this time, companies related to startups, innovations, colleges and training centers, software solutions, and computing devices were given a special place. As a result, more than 150 stalls took part in the exhibition.

Exhibitor companies in the fair promoted their goods and services among consumers. Also, on this occasion, the companies announced ‘CAN Info-Tech Offer’ on their products with discounts and attractive plans.

Companies that are close to their customers also conducted interactive and fun games. On the last day of the fair, the companies offered a 30 to 60 percent discount on the purchase and booking of their services and products.

On the occasion of CAN Info-Tech, a blood donation program was also held, in which 193 people donated blood. Similarly, in collaboration with the CAN Federation, the Abhiyanta Foundation hosted a 6-day free health camp.

This resulted in 727 people receiving diabetes checkups and consultations for 240 people, 234 receiving eye checkups and consultations, and 253 receiving dental checkups.

Coding competitions, quiz contests, gaming competitions, robo soccer competitions, and other events were also held at CAN Info-Tech.

Meanwhile, Chiranjibi Adhikari, General Secretary of the Federation, announced that following the successful completion of CAN Info-Tech at the national level in the capital, a plan to implement CAN Info-Tech in all seven states by 2023 has been introduced. He stated that the preparations for this had been completed quickly.

CAN ICT Seminar 2023 concluded

Computer Association Nepal Federation (CAN Federation) has organized an ICT seminar in conjunction with CAN Info-Tech 2023. From Feb 8-12, four different ICT seminars were held.

According to the organizers, on Feb 8, there was a special interaction between stakeholders on the issue of the gap between industry and academia. Similarly, on Feb 9, a seminar was held on two topics: blockchain technology and fintech.

On Sunday, Feb 12, there was a discussion among Nepal’s internet ecosystem stakeholders. On this occasion, speakers from internet service providers, regulators, and consumers shared their perspectives on issues such as bandwidth, internet quality, data leaks, and so on.

In the same program, Youth AGIF Nepal stakeholders stated that public awareness about the Internet should be spread through the school label itself. CAN Info-Tech, according to Chiranjibi Adhikari, General Secretary of CAN Federation, has succeeded in bringing meaningful interaction between concerned people alongside the information technology exhibition.

Computer Association Nepal Federation (CAN Federation), founded in 1992, is an umbrella organization of human resources, experts, organizations, and businesspeople working in the field of information technology in Nepal. It is a non-profit, non-political organization.

It has been working for the rights and interests of information and communication technology professionals and experts, as well as providing necessary suggestions and support to the government in policy formulation, implementation, and facilitation of information technology programs. In 2015, CAN was renamed Computer Association Nepal Federation.
